Handsome Cover

Impression of the Meems Bottom Covered Bridge

Laural M Koons

I have to admit that this is the first covered bridge I can remember visiting, Dawn suggested this location as we had decided to go to the Shenandoah mountains the same day. What a treat the bridge was. Since the bridge is still used, we had to dodge a few cars to get out photos but all was accomplished. There is not a bad view of the bridge, but they are all very different depending what angle you are looking from.

It is positioned into the trees over the creek and is quite picturesque. The fact that they are able and willing to keep the bridge updated is a testament to those who continue to promote preservation. It truly is a wonderful piece of construction. When I first saw the bridge, I thought it was handsome, so I am going to say that is my impression of this lovely covered bridge.
